Our Mission
We believe that CPR education and other life-saving skills should be regarded as important as other parts of health education. Through research of the states’ legislative mandates, the Kansas City Heart Rhythm Foundation noticed discrepancies with legislative CPR education bills and the actual application of these regulations inside the schools themselves. The Global CPR Initiative was created to combat this lack of accessibility to CPR education inside high school education.
“CPR is one of the most important thing you can learn in your education.”

Our Research
41 out of 50 states (as well as D.C.) currently have mandated CPR education for high schools.

Through a cross-sectional survey, the KCHRF received CPR education data from more than 2,300 high schoolers across the country. The students were asked multiple questions about the extent to their CPR knowledge, their opinions on school-based CPR education, and their feelings on certification for themselves or school staff members. With this data, the KCHRF and Global CPR Initiative teams have shared their findings in a late-breaker soon to be published by the New England Journal of Medicine.
Currently the team is working on gaining a new perspective from school administrators, hoping to create a more well-balanced picture of CPR education in the US. Both surveys are still collecting responses, so please consider contributing to our efforts by taking the surveys applicable to you or sharing them with others.
The Global CPR Initiative aims to enact legislative change within the United States. Click here to read a sample bill for mandated CPR education.

Our Impact
The Global CPR Initiative does not plan to stop just at the national level. We believe that CPR education is important to bring to an international platform.
